Lexus RS 450h

Mark the date in your calendars - December 2 will see the launch of the new Lexus RX (pictured) with a hybrid model to follow in January next year.
The vehicle will debut in Japan, where it is known as the Toyota Harrier SUV. The hybrid model is set to include a 2.5litre engine with a hybrid system and it will achieve 51.3mpg with CO2 emissions at 106g/km.

Each engine will boast a maximum output of 112kW and a maximum torque of 206Nm. Its front electric motor offers 105kW with maximum torque at 270Nm and the rear motor delivers 50kW and torque of 139Nm.
In Japan, the Toyota Harrier is set to qualify for reduced taxes as both the hybrid and petrol models will exceed 2015 fuel economy standards by at least 20 per cent.
There are a host of notable enhancements to the vehicle. These include: frequency adaptive damping shock absorbers that are meant to control the degree of vehicle roll; while the petrol models come with dynamic torque control four-wheel-drive.
In addition, the models will pack in some of Toyota's most advanced driver assistance and safety features. For example, the models include a panoramic view monitor that boosts lateral visibility; a lane departure alert system; pre-collision brake assist; and an intelligent clearance sonar that can detect obstacles when starting off and trigger an alert based on the circumstances.
Pricing for the vehicle in Japan will start at Y2,720,000 (around US$27,200); while the hybrid model will start at Y3,610,000 (US$36,100).
